Casual Games, What I've Played Print

I’ve tried some demos and bought a few casual games over the years. Here’s a run down:

  • Feeding Frensy – You’re a fish swimming around (follows the mouse) a big tank trying to eat little fish while avoiding being eaten by bigger fish. I liked it, but didn’t buy it.
  • Tradewinds – I liked figuring out how to make money in this game, and I was good at it. The graphics are real simple, but it’s still fun. I never used some of the features like tips at the tavern. I didn’t buy this game.
  • Diner Dash – Of the three (including the first two), this is the game that won my heart and opened my pocket book sometime last year. I really like waiting tables and scoring expert on every level.
  • Diner Dash 2 – Saw it at Walmart and bought it.
  • Wedding Dash – Now a days, there are many new diner dash-esque games, and Wedding Dash is a good one. I played the demo a few times, and helped my daughter play the demo. I was very good at this game, however, any replay was exactly the same. So I didn’t buy it.
  • Cute Knight – Steven wanted me to try a casual game in our genre, so I tried the demo. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to The End in the demo, so when I bought the game I didn’t realize how short it is. You don’t have time to dilly-dally and win. On the other hand, there are different endings that are fun to explore.
  • Farm Frenzy- I’m on the Play First’s (creators of Diner Dash) newslist, and so after reading about Farm Frensy and playing the demo, I bought it. Sometimes it’s tricky to get the win requirements in a gold or silver timeframe, but you still get a win if you can’t.

Are there any cool casual games out there I’m missing? I suspect it’s hard to hear about them if they don’t land on MSN, Yahoo, or the like. Anything else in RPG land?
