I’m coming off of a two day migraine, I’m babysitting today (a five month old), I’d like to cook a thing or two for Thanksgiving tomorrow, and don’t forget the monster in the laundry basket encroaching on my bedroom demanding attention. I pushed through the pain (light sensitivity) and wrote the first day of my migraine, but I didn’t do it yesterday. AND today I feel like writing as much as I feel like cleaning toilets. Did I mention my kindergartner is home today? (No, she isn’t in the laundry basket, that’s dirty clothes waging war with the surrounding territories.) I’ve been told week three is easier than week two. They lied. Week three is still hard. The difference is, the little voices (who whined about quitting) have shut up. There is no quitting. So I write until I feel like my brain is dripping from my ears. In a way, it reminds me of running. I don’t know if I’ll ever hit that "writer’s high," but eventually, I’ll get used to it. Steve Perry’s science fiction novel, The Musashi Flex is a about a ranked fighting club. The book follows the intertwining lives of a fighter, a wealthy enthusiast, a spy, and a journalist through the twists and turns of the deadly competition. Perry has several Aliens books which I loved, and so while at FenCon (he was a guest), I picked up this book. Click to continue reading Review of Musashi Flex |

With Halloween long gone (and yet we still have buckets full of candy on the table), and Thanksgiving next week, I thought I’d do the unthinkable and bring up Christmas. Hey, everyone else is doing it, and I would jump off a cliff if everyone else is doing it! Just kidding. Click to continue reading Better Start Planning for Christmas, or Not |

I stumbled upon this funny bit of blogging from raleva31 on livejournal. I never seem to get enough of these real life stories of how inept some people are when it comes to the process of finding an agent. Click to continue reading Query Bloopers and Unraveling the Agent Mystery |
