Are you like me, hesitant to try new authors but once you find one you like, you can't get enough? I can only think of two books I picked up off the shelf in the last 20 years. Everything else I've read has been recommended by someone I know personally, except for Octavia Butler. Orson Scott Card recommended her on his website, and since I love his work, I was willing to give her a try. OMG! I love her stuff!!! Since I've signed up for interesting news on My Yahoo, I've learned about many cool things going on in the world. The most interesting item I've read about is the coming end of a nearby star that won't finish its death in a black hole. It will be a huge patch of light, bright enough to read by at night! When will this happen? Any day now! It could be tomorrow or it could be in 50,000 years.  Oh, yeah, and it will only be visible in the southern hemisphere. I would love to see it, but "soon" in star terms isn't soon enough for me. I don't expect to live long enough (heck, I'll be happy to see 2064). Still... it leaves me itching to write a story in a world with this new light source! Delilah Rehm |

Writing Inheritance was all centered around the question, "And?" Instead of peeling an onion, it was more like filling a water balloon or adding rubber bands to a rubber band ball collection. "And" was a question of more. What more? I added layers until I thought the story was really working and interesting. The result? Ahh, I guess you'll just have to check it out, for that answer. ;-) All of this talk about Inheritance has me really missing Bluefoot and the girl. Anyone wonder what happens to them next?
