The Work Behind the Curtain
Monday, 20 October 2008

It’s funny how many times people are described "overnight successes" without regard for any of the work they did building up to the "break-through" event. Steven and I talked about this a lot with Elijah Wood after the Lord of the Rings movies. His "instant success" came after being in 16 other movies!

What about Harry Potter? It’s the only thing Rowling has ever published. Except… when did you first learn about Harry Potter? For me it was on Oprah, book three or four. I don’t think Harry was mainstream in America until book five. Add to this mix the fact that her first book was rejected by every large British publishing house. Wow. I can see that killing many writers’ dreams. She had guts to keep going and see it through.

Monday, 13 October 2008

Even to the six-year old girl!

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
Wednesday, 30 July 2008

Did you miss the one week only playing of Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog? It’s an awesome three part (40 min) musical. I absolutely loved it! Luckily, I found it again on myspacetv. You HAVE to see this. Also, you can buy it on itunes or (like me) wait for the DVD.

Steven mentioned that Felicia Day, the actress who plays Penny, really liked Depths of Peril! Yeah. She blogged about it.

Conestoga
Monday, 28 July 2008

It was a last minute decision, Thursday night to be exact, but I’m really glad I went to Conestoga this past weekend in Tulsa Oklahoma. I had a wonderful time. I even took notes where I can always find them, in my pocket program!
