Historical Heroes

There are many heroes that have roamed the lands of Aleria fighting for the side of good in the past.  Below are some of the more well know ones.

Greta Hillard

Greta     While studying as a junior apprentice at the Holy Temple of Din in Morgenberg (Bearhold Grassland), Greta found herself called by the God Din to find his missing son. She set off to search for clues in Madcap City (Heister Forest) with her uncle by adoption, Mudbeard. Not long into their journey, she found herself with another companion, Retter Ketill, a barbarian paladin.
Greta strove to overcome the issues from her lack of experience as the others treated her like a child, shielding her from danger. Despite her struggles to find her place among the men and her strength along the way, she leaned on her faith to overcome doubt and fear. She was determined to succeed.

Retter Ketill

Retter     Retter, a barbarian paladin, stood on the roof of the Temple of Din in Jorvik (Thorbrander Forest) watching the massive storm pouring in off the ocean to the west. Hearing a shout behind him, he turned in time to see five human men fleeing from the Temple of Thaden. Retter hurried in to discover a ghastly horror. Five barbarian babies had been turned to stone and he couldn’t feel the presence of Thaden. When his fear was confirmed, Retter headed for Mapcap City (Heister Forest) and joined Greta Hillard and Mudbeard in the quest to find Thaden.

Dolf “Mudbeard” Meadowguard

Mudbeard     Mudbeard was found alone in east Deadfall Forest by Fritz Hillard. The human warrior adopted the orphaned dwarf toddler and called him Dolf. Although Mudbeard learned the art of war using a hammer, a weapon favored by dwarves, he chose to remain close to home in Morgenberg (Bearhold Grassland) and open a tavern.
After an altercation which resulted in several men thrown out of the tavern on a rainy evening, and Mudbeard tripping and landing in mud, some visiting dwarf merchants who were watching the fight dubbed Mudbeard with his dwarven name. Mudbeard was pleased, but he still longed to know his last name and find his blood relatives.
As he grew older, Mudbeard’s mood soured. Some say it was because he was a dwarf trying to live in human lands, and others think he bore a dark secret. When Greta Hillard, his niece, was called by the God Din to find his missing son, Mudbeard promised her father, the man raised as his brother, that he would protect her during the long and precarious quest.

Bevan Huntington

Bevan     When Bevan won the lottery to leave the safety of his homeland to help prepare a place for free people in the dangerous wilds, he had no idea of the revelations ahead. When he found civilization, no one believed his story. Before he could make plans to help the family he left behind, the Great Fourth War pressed down, pinning refugees to the west in Belog territory (Freya Meadows). Bevan joined a barbarian warrior, Skadd Frithfell, in helping save many people from the deadly grasp of the orc and zombie armies.

Brenna Burleigh

Brenna     While traveling to Forfarshire (Yuleshire Downs) with her magic teacher, Damek Havelock, to help the magicians hold back the dark elves black sky magic, Brenna found herself pulled into the quest to find the source of the inky-black clouds. Damek and Brenna were the unlikely replacements of a very powerful magician who died in the desert (Barrenlands) leaving his barbarian warrior companion, Sven Bjorr, unconscious and wounded, left for dead by the dark elf assassins.
Brenna, a fire mage, often felt like a tag along, like she was in the way of the important people trying to save the world from dark elf domination. Little did she know the role she would play.

Eeanlee Ziziphus

Eeanlee     Eeanlee was attracted to magic as a fry. Teratai magic works differently than the magic practiced by other races because the teratai are more at home in fresh water than they are on land. When the Forth Great War came, Eeanlee was dispatched with a group of warriors to help the human kingdoms hold back the orc and zombie armies. Eeanlee was the only survivor of that group.
Though the teratai also had to flee their homeland to the overwhelming number of invading zombies, Eeanlee chose to stay and do what he could where he was. He joined Lulan and Drel in the Brechin Kingdom (Yuleshire Downs) helping refugees from all of the western races escape the genocide.

Raven Rimround

Raven     Little is know about Raven. He is thought to be one of the most powerful magicians to ever live. He wielded Whirlwind, a staff that matched him in ability. The story of Raven was lost with the fall of the Rimround people. The runes of the Rimround people can be found in Grimalkin Forest.

“Drel” Drelianlis Gaelmaraffelnim

Drel     Drel, an elven warrior and historian writing under the name Derwen, was born 126 NA. He grew up in Outer Kirhitelon (Palumarri Forest), training for the guard while researching history in his spare time. While he became adept at the double-ended spear, his frustration grew in the lack of documents concerning other races and the world outside of the elven Empire. Drel fled the Empire in search of adventure and new sources of research. He left with his childhood friend, Lulan, forever labeling them outcasts among the elves.

Tover Edelsteen

Tover     Tover, a lumen with freakishly small eyes, eyes the size of humans, thinks poorly of his appearance as well as his ability to see well in daylight. He is shy, lonely and keenly observant, known for his quiet and unexpected presence or action often catching others off guard.

Dez Dazd

Dez     Dez, a cunning yet fun-loving sade, grew up spending much of his time with his best friend and heir to the Anza Kingdom, Alek Carmelo . His constant energy and curiosity doesn’t cause problems at home in Markar Jungle the way it seems to among the humans in Tuono and Carmelo Castle (Thunder Plains). Dez is different from most sade in his interest in other races, and though men rarely hold titles in the sade society, Dez was dubbed an ambassador, filling an empty position no one else wanted. Following the Third Great War as an advisor to Alek, Dez vowed to keep him from harm, though he was often distracted from a practical joke rivalry with Tover.

Stories: Murder in Markar, The Taken

Alek Carmelo

Alek     Prince Alek is heir to the Anza thrown. At a young age, Alek befriended Dez Dazd, a sade from Markar Jungle. Alek struggled with his duties as future king and his love of his independence and creating art. He’d rather be painting than sitting through lectures about agriculture or drilling with his fighting instructor.
The freedom once allowed him by his father ended when the Third Great War began. Alek found himself leading a battalion across the desert, pushing the saurians back toward the mountains where they originated.

“Lulan” Lulansal Thallassarlon

Lulan     Lulan, an elven healer and great niece to the Empress, was born 135 NA. As she grew up in Outer Kirhitelon (Palumarri Forest), she fell in love with the wild, in contrast to the manicured and carefully tended environment of the elves. Her love of natural ecology extended into healing magic and medicines. As a young woman, very young by elven standards, Lulan left Kirhitelon with her best friend, Drel, forever labeling her an outcast among the elves.
