The Text Issues Thread
 
Hey all,

I'm creating a separate thread for bugs (?) that involve text -- whether it be proofing-related, display errors, or (in this case) text that is showing up somewhere it doesn't belong.

Shadow, I'm hoping you won't object to such a thread? Those sorts of things jump right out at me (I've had to proof many, many documents and marketing materials at my prior job) and I certainly wouldn't mind helping with a bit of polish.

The first one I noticed was that a monster's description ended abruptly (mid-sentence). I didn't make a note of it, but I'll try to go back and track it down. I want to say it was a Big Sister, but I'll verify. Until then, I'm not writing it down officially.

The list begins:

1: The hover description for the covenant bookshelf is wrong. It has the same description as the shared loot chest.

How about when looking thru the shop if the description of the new item and your current item is too large then they overlap, and it becomes somewhat difficult to read. If I can duplicate it I will take a screenshot.

I don't mind at all. #1 is fixed in version 1.005.

saw a unique item called "Blackguard Pauldrens" a few games ago if I remember correctly (another covenant found it). Should be spelled Pauldrons - with an 'o' - or at least I can't find any sources validating the spelling with an 'e'.

I'm playing in the 1.006 beta patch btw.

The Blackguard Pauldrens spelling is fixed in 1.007.

here are some I've found recently in the 1.006 beta patch:

1) any Backpacks that I find off mobs or vendors say that they are 12 slots even though they are in actuality 14 slots when opened.

2) every Gladius type sword has an equals mark at the end making all the names Gladius=

3) every Shamshir sword is misspelled Shamshire.

4) I found a piece of armor that was very rare quality and called "reinforced leather helmet" but the details said it was cloth. At least I think it was a helmet and I haven't found any other mislabeled reinforced leather equipment to confirm.

Couple of typo/grammar errors here.



How about: It's good you found <item> when you did. I'd hate to think what would happen if our enemies got their hands on such an artifact.

Ok, enemier :), backpack descriptions, gladius, shamshir, and leather helmets are all fixed in version 1.007.

When highlighting the experience bar, the hover text has the typo "experiencer".

Also, the description of the Jab skill should probably have an apostrophe. It says "...reduces your enemies hate for you..." and should be enemy's or enemies' instead.

The Power chart when comparing with other Covenants has a typo as well. With your cursor over the Items button the hover text has the word "equiped". Oh, and trust me, I make that typo constantly in my writing...

The Unique Artic Breeze... um... the spelling of arctic is.. well, arctic, if that's what you meant, instead of a creative license thingie ;)

The Plaguebringer description has the typo "spiting" rather than spitting.

I think I've spotted that one. It was a Saurian. Also, I notice it says "viscous" where I think it was supposed to be vicious. Unless of course you meant the Saurians grew sticky while underground. ;) Additionally, it should probably be lightning, not lightening.

The description for Elementals has the text "...gave her most devote worshipers..." and should say devoted instead.

2. Having the properties of glue.

Doesn't that sound like a Saurian to you? :)

All 3 of the Saurian text issues are fixed in 1.007.

Spotted another. ;)

The warrior skill "Devastating Blow" needs an apostrophe in the skill description where it says "warriors rage".

Oh, and the Badlands description has raptor spelled as rapter.

The description for Hulks should have a comma after tusked, and has the same glue-like properties as the Saurian. :)

In the trade screen with the Monster Slayers, if you offer a bad deal and ask what would make it possible when it simply isn't, one of the replies has a typo. "...your intellect is laking here." Also, the Lucky trait says "Finds more and better items that others."

On the Trade Item screen, I tried to buy Bevan's Sword from Sisterhood of Fate for 1g and was told:

"We are near an understanding.

looks like you're either missing the end quote or need to get rid of the front quote.

Also, was trying to establish a medium trade route with Alliance of Light and was told:

We are near an understanding. WHat more do you have?

need to lower-case the 'h' in WHat.

the two suffix attributes on relics "of tithes" and "of customs" are lower case. All other attributes that I've seen are capitalized. Only "Relic of tithes" and "Relic of customs" are lowercase like this and it looks out of place relative to the otherwise consistent capitalization.

Fastny is in Jorvik, not Wildwood. The completion note at the bottom is a bit confusing.

I think this should be in another bugs section, but I got the same message too. I got the quest from town, then returned for the reward. Turns out the one who gave the quest lost all hope on me--she was not in town, and neither was she in the place the quest mentioned (deadfall forest, I think).

The NPCs will appear in a different spot in town if you exit and resume. Did this happen or is the NPC just completely gone?

Don't know if this is a text bug or not... but I saw a relic that is supposed to increase vitality... and it is called the Relic of Virtility... and I'd sure be afraid to put in on one of my pedestals, for fear of what it might set my recruits to doing while they should be on guard dury!!!

Is that a typo?

Little StealthBunnies running around might be cute and adorable... but not when they're being eaten by icky monsters!
