The Demon War

I was just browsing over the site and noticed this in the feature list of the game:
- Survive the Demon War

I've played many games of Din's Curse but never saw mention of this. Is this a specific event that i have not encountered or was it just more a generalization of the state of the world?

It's more a generalization of the background story.
