Im no expert but from what i gathered-"Generally" cloth never goes above 20%, leather never goes above 40%, Mail never goes above 55% and plate never goes above 70%. I think its very fair this way. What they changed from last patch was what armor absorbed. Previous patches enemies were critically hitting for loads of damage and it seemed as though armor didnt help. Even warriors were at risk. The new patch provides double the normal protection number for armor when criticals hit. This works for both monsters and characters. So if you had 300 armor and got critically hit, you'd have 600 for that hit. Works much better.
