Flak is supposed to auto target the nearest missile automatically. All you are supposed to have to do is fire it. Is there specific cases when this isn't true?

I'd have to go back and check the different versions of Flak weapons, but your changes to them up till now don't appear to be universal. One or two varieties don't have the sub-text denoting that they can only be used to shoot at missiles for example. I suspect that the targeting changes may be similarly non-uniform.

Autofire makes a lot of sense to me When I'm in a large mob using flak and switching to other weapons is difficult at best. Since it's a racial Hive ability, they could be the only race to have the autofire flak perk.

I don't really want race specific things like that, but if we are going that route i'd like to be the first to suggest the fringe being able to drop their powerplant like a makeshift bomb (at the cost of the powerplant in their race specific slot ofc).
Wouldnt have the foggiest what Shadow should be able to do with their cloak though.

I reckon they should be able to fire automatically without any player input or act like an increased %miss chance for missiles. Some of the battles can get very hectic whilst pressing a ton of buttons!

I can't reproduce the not being able to fire missile defense issue. I tried most of them and each time I could fire at a missile and it didn't matter if I had a ship targeted first or not. Can someone that is having this problem tell me exactly what they are doing that results in missile defense not firing?

Yeah i like this Race only Skills not too.

Scavengers was OP in my Opinion with there Armor reg per kill and Autofire flak is a very OP "Skill" too (OP for the reason other Races cans use them too).

I suggest make some usefull Tools "Unique" that means a Unique Part from the same type can be only Installed one per Ship. But Flak should be autofire for free i think.

I use atm one beam Weapon with the left mouse button and one Virus Weapon with the right mouse button. +Hotkey "2" for rockets and hotkey "3" for fighter Bays and "6" for Fury (+%Weapon damange -Thrust) thats by far enough and i forgot often some of them to use, or press the wrong button.

I would suggest too make "weapons" like Fury, Cloak etc all the ones gives you something not do damage a automode to turn on and off.

What i like is the different between Slots you spare as a Race. Draks Spare a Slot for Fighter Bays, Brunts for Missiles, thats fair and good enough but give you the ability to regen armor per kill is in my opinion by far to overpowered.
