Happy Thanksgiving...

In the United States, Thanksgiving is celebrated. I would like towish all who celebrate a happy Thanksgiving. For me, most Thanksgivings have a long drive associated with them. This year is no exception. Since we travel everywhere with our pup, the drive will be about ten hours.

If you are driving, how long is your drive?

No actual meal/event in my neck of this woods yet again this time around. Only drive that MIGHT happen, if the place actually still exists, is to a mysterious pizza place to bring back one loaded up to enjoy. Otherwise, hoping for delivery from another known, good pizza place.

What is Thanksgiving all about? All I know from the TV is that it looks like an early chrstmas dinner (turkeys involved).

Our drive was 30 minutes.

Thanksgiving is really oh so many things. In American schools, it is taught that (European) pilgrims shared a feast with the Native Americans. They were thankful for their bounty in the new world. In other times/places, Thanksgiving has been about getting enough harvest from your farm to make it through winter, and also a welcoming of autumn. That last is my favorite. It seems like most major holidays occur during a change of season and I always wonder why Thanksgiving isn't in September.

The celebration itself consists of having a turkey dinner with family, getting off from work for a day or two, and maybe watching a football game. It's similar to Christmas but without the gift giving.
