Its funny because when I got the Demo, with Demon War, I thought the town raids were "balanced" but when I got the full version (without Demon war) I dont know if it was just bad timing, but the monsters would just come up and destroy stuff fast, I Would try to get out of the dungeon, then always seem to hit a trap that took me to a different level of the dungeon, so I started turning off the town raids.

Here is my character so far, The Axe I got is really sweet, happy with it so far

Im using Gouge and Strength points and I seem to be killing fast enough, so I think its working so far I'll post his stats hopefully tonight.

Good to see another new player though
The defender/trickster was one of the builds i thought of trying a little while ago during the post beta. If you think about it it actually is pretty cool. Stealth, Gouge a couple times, block and retreat, then repeat.

With all the damage bonuses, almost any character that has melee options can kill most average monsters their level or above by 4 easily. I still want to try as a challenge the shaman/demonologist as a melee character.

So my first attempt at an attack speed druid/hybrid took on a level 60 town when he was level 48. I'm extremely pleased with how well he turned out, but once I saw the skills in the thief class I knew I had to try again.

The second character is intended to be an improvement on the first (concentration: speed is all kinds of amazing) and so far he's doing really well.

His items aren't that good (except for his dagger which is absolutely amazing).

When fury/haste procs from the items, the dps varies anywhere from 120 all the way up to 300 (I've had 4 hastes triggered at once on me before; I turned into a horrifying whirlwind of death for 10 seconds).

Of course, the ONLY problem I have is that due to my terrible luck, just about every unique/boss monster I run into has some kind of thorns. It's really painful to realize that after I walk up and attack for a second (that's 4 hits of thorns the monster gets in on me, at least!).

Here's the second attempt (I exported after I activated strength of stone, concentration: poison, and stalker):

One little hint: you can pause the game while you're inventory is up, or while you're shopping with a vendor, which allows you to sort through gear and look at stats without the world around you advancing or new quests starting. Just press 'p'. You'll still be able to move the cursor over items in your inventory to see attributes, and move stuff around.

The Pause/Break key works too, I used it a lot my first day of playing.

I expected to be doing the same even after moving to the Slowest Pace setting, but instead discovered that things move along at just the right pace if I leave the pause key alone and just play the game.

On quickie mode, it was all just a whirl of faceless NPCs. But there are so many things going on behind the scenes in Din's Curse, so many little interactions between the townspeople, and even the various monster factions down below. Din's Curse is really modest on the surface, but below that, it's not so simple. When an NPC steals, or becomes jealous, overly ambitious or whatever, I'm able to take the time to understand subtle interactions that can lead to greater consequences.

Last night, for the first time, I realized that one of the best things I could do for my current town was to kill one of the townspeople. He had been getting into fights ever since he lost his son in the dungeon, but I hadn't been able to avenge his son's death because there were more pressing matters that affected the town as a whole (like rescuing people down in the dungeon who were still alive). Finally he got into a fight with a vendor, which resulted in the vendor's death. No one argued when I cut him down.

Yeah dont underestimate concentrate poison, ive used the thief/druid build up to 42 and when i got into a deep fight with thorns madness, i activate poison and hit them 6 times and run away. By the time i come back, they are dead. However, keep in mind my poison concentrate was at 8. Its definitely a very fun build. If you are into that sort of thing (passive attack builds) urge shadow to make the demonologist class skill (possession demon morph) into the same deal as the stalker. That my friend would be epic as turning into a demon with stun/damage bonuses would work really well for a paladin (stun passive).

That dagger is amazing!, does weapon speed ever cap? When I get a haste obelisk, its pretty insane how fast stuff dies, I did have a piece of armor for a long time that would proc. I think level 6 Fury, getting a bunch of gear for attack speed would be really awesome, esp. if you had some way to get extra criticals or life steal.

In RPGs and MMOs, it's customary for me to build a tank first, so that I can experience and explore the game world without too much trouble. Afterward, I like to increase the challenge a little bit. No matter how crazy my character builds get, I always have my tank to fall back on for some relaxing gameplay.

So my second character is another warrior, but much different from my namesake character. Whereas Hannes-Erich is a pure Defender, built for shield-tanking (and lots of hit points), Dawn is primarily a Weapons Specialist focused on DPS, with a few Defender skills that are focused on damage-over-time. Stat-wise, I'm focusing on critical hits and accuracy. In a nutshell, she's more vulnerable, but more lethal.

Rather than a traditional warrior, I picture her as an assassin or interrogator. She favors knives or smaller, lighter swords; the faster she can swing, the better. I would LOVE it if there was a dual-wielding skill for Weapons Specialists.

I would strongly recommend that you re-start this character as a rogue or rogue hybrid. I think you'll find that the rogue skills are a better match for what you have in mind.

People have been asking for dual-wield for a long time; unfortunately, it won't work with the current engine.

Perhaps, perhaps not; although my next character IS going to be a rogue, it'll probably be a thief for multiplayer. Rogues, I'd imagine, start out with good dexterity, but they probably aren't as hardy as the Warrior class otherwise.

It's true the rogue's poisoning abilities and defensive capabilities make it the ideal assassin/interrogator type. But Warrior abilities like Gut (DoT) and Adrenaline, combined with berserker fury and passive abilities (like swords mastery) that increase Attack and Defense (and parry) seem to make it possible to shoe-horn a roguish type into the Warrior class-- a really crazy roguish type, able to take damage but more concerned with dishing it. I can picture Dawn laughing maniacally, covered in her own blood after being stabbed several times, then using the Adrenaline, Revenge and Gut abilities on her opponent, in that order.
