Default Best race for beginner

What would be your advice for race choice? Has your starting race some effect on relations with the same race? (e.g. will Drakk love me if I'm Drakk too?).

And maybe for beginners "Drox Involvement" setting should be set on Light?

If you have the expansion, start with Scavengers. They are just that good. Install a heavy power generator and a medium armor component as soon as you can, by the way.

I do not think so, because you are not actually a Drakk. You are a Drox operative commanding a ship make by the Drakk.

This said, at low levels it is trivial to get in other races good graces, and stay there by using rumors to make sure they get along with each other. By the way, if you're lucky enough to pull Drakk as one of the races in your first sector, make sure you do their quests as often as cash permits, and get your pick from a ton of Drakk crew.

Actually, I recommend "Minimal" for anyone but those looking for a specific, and temporary challenge. It's not only that the quests are hard and liable to interrupt your enjoyment of the sector with an unavoidable loss, they are mindbogglingly dumb and frustrating when the RNG feels like it.

And finally, make your first sector tiny. Otherwise you will quickly outgrow everything you can find in it, and be bored. I start my new ships in a level 6 tiny sector. You probably want a level 2 or 4.

I'd say Fringe or Scavenger for a beginner race, because they both have an extra racial slot that is something you're going to need regardless of what strategy you're using (power plant for Fringe, thruster for Scavenger).

I don't believe you automatically get any sort of racial boost for "your" race. Do note that when you level up, it's only possible to get a racial crew member as a bonus component if that race is alive in your current sector.

Setting Drox Involvment to Minimal is a great idea in the beginning (and often afterwards, for many players)... the last thing you need is a really difficult mandatory quest as you're still learning the basics.

Gotta agree Fringe or Scavenger is helpful to learn on. The extra slot goes to something you can always use. Also could consider Drakk as well, they have a slot for fighters. Really helps early on to be able to get in a few more hits with fighters. Also fighters can act as a good distraction from stuff trying to kill you. More stuff shooting at them, means less shooting at you.
