steam IOTA

So IOTA just came out of steam and I was thinking of getting it
However q's before I do that:
1. My vanilla Drox was from Soldak, do i have to switch it to steam before getting the expansion or is it a standalone?
2. Can vanilla ships switch to IOTA without having to make brand new ones?
3. Mods already installed in vanilla (stashable crew) transfer to steam?
