Default Drox in other systems?

Sometimes I get a message that a planet in another system was destroyed by the Drox. Are other Drox operatives being simulated in the game?

No, you shot at that planet in passing, and someone else, race or unaligned, finished the job. You still get credited for the kill.

The reverse happens as well - you wipe out a bunch of enemy planets, and the diplomacy screen says that they were taken out by monsters.

I've noticed that the "destroyed by" messages seem to be a bit wonky since the last patch, but I haven't seen enough of them yet to be sure.

Most of the races got destroyed in my last game and most of them said "destroyed by monsters" despite being destroyed by me. I'm not sure if that's the same as what you're talking about though.

It doesn't seem to be seriously affecting anything gameplay-wise other than the text though.

EDIT:
Wait, does it go by who did the most damage?

If it does then I guess it makes sense.
