Game Crash Char deleted??

Hello Guys,

could you pls help me with following issue?:

i just played my stalker druid when the game froze, i had
to end it with the task manager.
when i restarted the game the char was no longer availlable.
is there a chance to get it back somewhere?

Backup your saves next time and if this happens again you only lost a few hours of work and not the whole character! It's what i plan to do.

Okay i found the answer to the problem.
On the .chr file there was added .bak for some reason after the crash.
I simply had to delete the .bak after the .chr and there it is again.
But yeah backing up files will be done in future^^

Sorry for the slow answer, but what you did was correct.

The game tries to save things in as safe of a way as possible. So it writes to the bak files, deletes the old save, and then renames the bak to the normal save file name. This way if something crashes in the middle of saving there is always a valid save file (instead of a half written file).
