I just managed to survive a difficult scenario with a summoning class i have. I was playing a warlock/fighting class on lvl 3 and got transported down to lvl 7. The monsters were all dark elf fighters rogues and priests which are usually tough in the beginning part of the game. And to make it harder they were 4 levels higher than me ( i was lvl 10). My potions were running out as the dark elf fighters were respawning like flies. I'd kill 3 only to have 4 respawn in a nearby location. It was actually kind of fun. Then i got down to my last potion which i used up. I now had no way to heal and was down to 20 life left. I took things slow and used my fury summon to tank and absorb hits while i sneak in attacks from behind. After another 5 minutes of searching, i found the gate at 15 health remaining. Definietely one of the most fun times i've had.

I wish height played a larger role in regards to the toughness of the monster. I've killed massive towering monsters without much trouble and then normal sized ones have killed characters with one blow.

With giant monsters, their health and damage does scale up with the size.

But it's not proportional is it?

3x the size doesn't mean 3x HP ect right?

It is actually, minor giant is +25% health, +25% damage, and +25% size (normal and major are similar just bigger numbers). I think perception wise though +25% damage isn't that big of a jump but +25% is a pretty big difference.

It may be an expectation that damage would scale more with total weight/volume, so a 25% height bump would be a nearly 100% damage increase.

I'm not sure that's the answer...I like seeing the giant creatures and I don't think I want that much pain. Maybe there's a happy medium.

It would be nice if there was a method of telling how much damage per second can arrive from a boss creature. I always fear the mega damage ones which can kill in one strike.

The normal trend is that with higher lvl characters you get more quests and it seems more NPCs as well...

Well like so often what you expect doesn't always happen in DC and my warrior recently went through a town with one warmaster and one quest, nothing more

Moreover I have a new candidate for the largest mob contest, a gate with major giant (i.e. 100% size increase), the result is something that barely fits into the computer screen when fully zooming out

screen shots for later
