Right-click the game in your Steam Library. Select "Properties". Click on the "Local Files" tab. Click on the button that says "Verify the integrity of the game cache...".

That, unfortunately, did not solve the problem

Am I just supposed to download one or the other? Or is there something specific that I need to do with these files

I was thinking you could download one of these demos, install it, and see if the game works. That way you would know if it was something peculiar with your Din's Curse install through steam.

These are both demos for other Soldak games.

The other two games have the exact same issues...

Interesting. I don't know the solution but it isn't a problem with Steam. There is clearly some incompatibility between the engine and your video setup.

Well then how would I fix this? I don't want the 10$ I spent on this game to go to waste. This also happened with my friend who bought the game along with me

You'll have to wait for a more detailed response from Shadow. I wonder if it is some sort of regional problem since it also happened to your friend. It looks like the fonts aren't displaying, which could mean that for some reason your computer doesn't have support for the characters used in the font used by the game. Maybe Shadow can help you out here.
