![]() Rumor has it that High Sierra is the end of the road for 32-bit apps on Macs.
I am going to be an upgrade hold-out, because it will kill my Adobe CS6 suite — I also noticed it will kill all my Soldak games. ![]() I figured that deserves a heads-up since the new OS could be out as soon as June 2018. And I have no idea whether you're 64-bit ready or not. I cried along with many when Rosetta died. I'll be clinging to High Sierra as long as I can hold out — on pain of monthly fees for Creative Cloud nonsense — guess that also is a great reason to get out of the graphic design business. ![]() |

![]() I'm aware of it. I'm not sure what we are going to do about it. Apple has made changes that makes it so we make less and less money from the Mac and at the same time demands more and more effort just to keep our games working on their platform. Going to 64bit for us on the Mac is basically re-porting to the Mac since Apple didn't bother to port Carbon.

![]() Even if we do choose not to update everything, I hear that our games work really well under Wine on OS X.

![]() If it weren't for Macs I'd be on a Linux desktop. So we could rant together if you'd like. Windows — been there, done that.
However, building or installing 64-bit Wine to run 32-bit apps may be challenging.... I'll consider giving that a try one day. Not today. lol They expect the new OS to be demo'd in June released 4th Q ish. So I expect I will be on High Sierra til next year sometime at least ![]() |
