I think that that is a great idea. I played the wild mage in shadows of amn a little. It was fun as hell!

The only problem would be getting that random modifier to work. You would also have to alternatively range in the negatives and make them realistic as well. Some of the good ones ones are like you said: Fireball, ice blast. Some of the deadlier ones you could use would be to get your enemies with a cave-in landing on where you point. Or maybe convert whoever you selected to your side.

And on the other coin, for bad side effects, you could have a large spawn of monsters. You be the target of your own spell (BG2 ). It would be ultimately a double-sided sword. But getting it to work is another story....

I really like that chaos mage idea. That would be a lot of fun. Frustrating at times, but a lot of fun. Not only in hardcore, but especially in a hardcore tournament to see who could get to the highest level. What fun!

Not to get too off topic but when I played the chaos mage (wildmage) in BG2, I had a really funny encounter that happened.

Right after casting a magic missile spell at a goblin in one of the first dungeons, something really weird happened. The goblin instead of dying, turned into a deranged cow and went over to the remaining goblins and exploded, killing them and nearly me in the process.

If we could get that to work in this engine not so much but to a degree-it'd be sick!

In Warcraft 2, there was a polymorph spell that turned your opponent into a sheep. That could be another random effect.

The good old polymorph spell can potentially be very fun skill for a chaosmage. The usual effect of turning enemies into sheep/cows can be offset by a chance to turn them into hulking giants (but slowed) while turning the chaosmage into a sheep (but hasted). You could explain the hasted effect by saying years of practice as a sheep running away from hungry things has allow your character to move very fast. Maybe even allow your weresheep to use some skills that can only be used while polymorphed into a sheep... like that kamikaze cow attack DeathKnight fondly remembers.

Anyway before we get too excited about this class, maybe we should hear Shadow's opinion on whether such a class would be feasible?

I've been doing some thinking about this class the demon hunter. And I was wondering if it would be possible to add a new weapon type with this class. I know that it sounds weird, but it would be cool if there was some kind of weapon that would differentiate between them and other warriors. I mean if they do hunt demons, they have to use something that would be good against demons. Maybe a weapon type that has a modifier that automatically gives off a ego effect and stun or something like that.

Maybe it would be possible that the demon hunter class use katanas. It would make them completely unique and make people wanna do a hybrid with either the warden or the reaver. Think about it, you could give dai-katanas (two-handed katanas) to the reavers since they use two-handed weapons. And you could give one-handed katanas to the wardens who use shields more. It would be the best of both worlds. In order to use katanas you would have to be one of those two classes. To make them different, you would have a higher chance/modifier of stunning blow. Stunning blow would be accurate for this class since they are hunters. Hunters maim their targets. I think it would make sense to do it that way.

i alrdy hated that in d2 with the claws only for assas or paladin shields and stuff like that. yes, it makes a class unique but it also makes the item unusable for all the rest. especially if you consider that dins curse is mostly played in single player.

That may be, but the bows for archers, hunters and rangers are only used by them. Just like daggers are almost only used by assassins, tricksters, and thieves (and a lil for weaponmasters).

The demon hunter is no different in my opinion. I think it would make him different from the typical warrior. And a lot more appealing too.

Oh yeah, I also have a question. Shadow said something about Blood Rage and Blood Sacrifice. My question is what's the difference between the two?

You said that blood sacrifice is you give up life to get damage (what kind-magic or physical?)

But what is blood rage?
