Default A humble suggestion.

Sorry for posting this here, im not sure where i could put this suggestion as there is no suggestion thread or anything similar to it.

So...i was leading a grand pilgrimage to slay my nemesis (a big sister imp). The area was very far away from mine and it took me about an hour to get there.
The nemesis was located at level 3 dungeon under that area, i enter the dungeon lvl 1 togheter with 2 of my best companions, a wizard and a tank/warrior. I walked through the first corridor and i somehow got teleported to level 4 of the dungeon and not a moment passed i was surrounded by atleast 30 to 50 enemies (i chose the raging hordes mode). We all died in a blink of an eye.
I was filled with grief of how i died in a absurdly silly way and the ugly truth of how i couldn't bring them back made it even more bitter.

So here comes my suggestion (finally )
I don't think im in the position to judge the game but i think that the permanent death of clan members is a bit . . . Hardcore?
I know that the raids and wars between clans would never come to an end if the companions could just ''respawn'' after a period of time but wouldn't it be great if we could somehow bring our friends back from the dead?
I suggest these 2 things: 1)Revival Through ''lifestones'' or 2)God of death
1) The player in the game has a personal ''lifestone'' that lets us get back from the dead.

Random lifestones could be a rare drop that you can find anywhere in the world of Zombasite. Once you have acquired a lifestone you could place the lifestone on to the gravestone of your fallen companion and bring them back.
Destroying the lifestone in the process.

2) As i have been studying the lore of zombasite i have realised that DoP and Zombasite are both set in the same universe. And i've stumbled upon a ''god of death'' a month ago, now i don't remember the name (or if the god even had a name) but i was kinda sad how most of this lore could only be read and not experienced. I was thinking... You COULD ask the god of death (through rituals and sacrifices) to bring back the fallen friend. The god of death would then ask you for a favour (a quest duh...) and when you complete it your companion would spawn somewhere inside the city ready to join you again!

Anyways thats it for my suggestion. By the way is there a way to donate directly to this company? I've bought the game over steam since i didn't want a physical copy of a CD but rather a key. I want to support the creators directly, not over a game platform that gives them a 75% cut or something. Thats all, thanks for reading!

One time use lifestones for NPCs could be interesting.

The god of death in the DoP world is Mortus.

We don't have a way to take donations. I've thought about setting up something like Patreon or just a Paypal donation account, but have never set one up. Usually I just tell people to buy another one of our games and donate it to a friend.

You can create copy backups of your save file in C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\Zombasite\User to a different folder and then overwrite those backups to your main save whenever something "unfortunate" happens to your clan members.

Basically the equivalent of reloading from a previous save. Of course, some people might consider "save scumming" to be cheating, but as this is mostly played as an offline single player game, you don't have to tell anyone you're doing it. :P

That said, I wouldn't mind a non-save-scumming way to deal with unfortunate clan member deaths. Cause if I really wanted a hardcore experience where death gave me permanent consequences and loss, I (and presumably quite a few others) probably would have loaded up and played the game on hardcore mode instead of softcore mode in the first place.

(although it was pretty funny how I myself died once and then after respawning back at my town, one of my clan members commented "Wow, you can come back from the dead!" when I talked to him. Not as funny as that time I found a wandering clan member named Gay who had the Gay personality trait. ....gods, why the hell didn't I recruit that guy?)

So I added personal lifestones that you can find and give to NPCs for the expansion. Going to test it out and see if I like it.

Hmm, sounds very intriguing. Well, in addition to what I earlier said, I'm also in favor of anything that adds more itemization collecting depth, too.

I'd like to see a couple of relatively easy things:

- 'evil' or otherwise irritating factions having a good or very good alliance bonus. They probably still won't be worth keeping alive, but at least you will have the option. At the moment all the good bonuses belong to the nice clans. I'd like to see that reversed - basically you have to earn your bonuses

- nightwatch nerfed a bit perhaps? These guys have a tendency to always be the strongest faction and clear out even the hardest areas.

- buff little titans. If they are going to stay super weak, give them an amazing alliance bonus to make it worth your while to keep the little guys. At the moment it's hard for me to understand how they even exist as a clan, since they are so pathetic. A great alliance bonus would help the lore, so to speak (oh, this is why the other clans keep them around!). I think at the moment they make rumours cheaper which is pretty crap (rumors can fail, even cheap rumours are super expensive).

- the ability to turn off non-trade communication by clans. Sometimes it is a reminder your relationship is dropping which is cool, but if you are on top of your relationship management it's very irritating.

- the ability to turn off communication by the nemesis (or have him 'whisper' it to you a la multiplayer). If you can't do that, at least make using the escape key remove the dialogue notification instead of forcing the player to click on it. I have hit escape by reflex and had to click back through so many times....

I'm not sure that Nightwatch is actually any more powerful than the other human clans. They might just have gotten powerful in your world since clan power is one of the things that is somewhat persistent in the region.

While I'm at it, I also suggest:

- change the effect of the 'teleporter' suffix to 25% or even 10% chance - it's crazy annoying vs a melee character.

- make it so lore drops only ever drop new lore. Reduce the drop rate if you like, but it will still make it faster to complete the set.
