Default Black Screen

I bought Din's Curse on steam today and downloaded it and clicked play, put in my key and then stared at a black screen for 5 minutes. My drivers are up to date and I don't have an Ati tray or whatever. I've restarted steam and redownloaded the game from steam. Thanks for any help, this is very frustrating.

Some things that you could try: turn off triple buffering or update your sound drivers. You could even try to run in a window instead of fullscreen, but that requires a bit more work (changing r_fullscreen variable in your user.cfg file).

I don't see a triple buffering option in my Nvidia settings and my sound is already up to date. As for the user.cfg I don't have one. I have a default.cfg in steamapps/common/din's curse where steam installed it. Changing the fullscreen variable did not help. Needless to say I am sorely disappointed I spent 10 dollars on this game and I can't even play it. Any more ideas would be appreciated but I will probably never get to play it.

If it has been created, your user.cfg file will be in C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\DinsCurse\User (assuming Vista or W7).

All I have there is a file called log which is completely empty. Also I found triple buffering and it wasn't on anyway.

In that case create a user.cfg file (just a text file with the extension changed) and add in the line
r_fullscreen 0

I had the same thing, a blank screen when trying to run Din's Curse.

I finally tracked it down to the OpenAL32.dll supplied with the game. After renaming this to another extension, the game picked up the latest installed OpenAL32.dll and it worked.
