After modding around with Zombasite for a while, it is really mind-opening how flexible your skill building system is. Effects can get customized to mind-blowing degrees, so I really can't wait to see how this skill system is implmented
(Don't answer this, just randomly posting my speculation) I wonder, but will players have any way to influence the direction that their skills move in? For example, I imagine that leveling up would give you one of three options; a new skill, a new property for a skill or an upgrade to an existing property of a skill at random. As you pick more of a specific type of option, the other types become more likely to appear.
This is a kind of 'mutation' system, where your character mutates randomly over time.
Though, perhaps it is a system where you pick a class and level as far as you can. Then, when you die, you pick a new class for the offspring which picks a new class so you get a hybrid class. As you die and pick new classes, you get new hybrid abilities until you reach the ultimate hybrid class that combines them all. (And then there is some final boss (a story(?)) that is like a huge black spot that is nearly impossible to kill without being the ultimate hybrid in level 100 gear). Kind of reminds me of the Final Fantasy Warcraft 3 mod combined with some Disgaea tier grinding.
