Can't load main character, "bad item"

The game crashes whenever I try to load my main character. "Bad item, exiting now to prevent save corruption later".

Unfortunately it's not my shared stash cause I can create and play other characters without a worry. I opened the .chr file quickly and saw that everything is in hex, which makes me think there might a chance to salvage something?

Any help appreciated!

Nevermind me.. I was trying to load a Demon Wars character over the base game
