![]() After I discovered it was no longer possible to play Single Player offline, and the auction house was messing up the game balance, and the craptastic drop rates are making everybody dependent on it, I decided against getting it after all. Now I'm holding out for Torchlight 2.

![]() From all I've seen from others playing on account of lack of money and qualms not unlike TheRani's...well...I'd say EXP for Lore bits found is good as well as a deeper integration of "Physics" ala knockback and such being punchier as opposed to just yet more floating numbers.
I trust Path of Exile to provide a more sensible online RPG experience, especially for single player...and of course good old free/offline Triangle Wizard has seen a good update or so(option for some traditional graphics versus the abstract vector doings and much more) in the wake of DIII's release, heh.

![]() I haven't bought Diablo 3. I'm just not interested in the changes they've made.
I've been following the comments from the forums I frequent and opinions are mixed. A lot of positive early on, but it seems replayability may be lacking in the long run. Obviously the skill system was changed quite a bit, and I'm not convinced it is for the better. I prefer a tree combination system similar to what Din's Curse and Titan Quest have. Let me pick two sets of skills and build the character I want to play rather than shoehorning me into a set role. They modified loot drops significantly. The only time you apparently get boosted loot drops from bosses is the first time you kill them in normal. Even the first time you fight them in harder modes, you aren't guaranteed anything useful from them. Also, loot drops in general have been drastically reduced. According to Blizzard representatives, they want to encourage auction house use and have modified loot drop numbers to accommodate that behavior.. Auction houses are not a good mechanic for an ARPG, and I feel go against the grain of one of the ARPG genre's core mechanics, the hunt for loot. Finding a cool item is MUCH better than buying it from some auction house. I'm anxious to see Drox Operative in action and may be able to offer suggestions to you after that. Right now, I don't want to recommend a game that is potentially light years ahead of Diablo 3 in design do anything that D3 is doing. ![]()

![]() This is really a major turndown. I used to love making magic find characters and how certain magic find characters were better than others. It was so fun in d2 to use a sorc as she was easy to teleport, only to find that there were magic find barbs that use search monster to great effect too.
A Reclusive Mind said- "I'm anxious to see Drox Operative in action and may be able to offer suggestions to you after that." Just wait for the beta, it was a heck of a lot of fun for dins curse and I'm sure it will be for drox. Its going to take a little bit of patience for me since I'm not used to space games like space rangers; but with soldak's dynamic game mechanics, it will be like dop I'm sure. We'll need every bit of help we can get so the more people the merrier. Last edited by DeathKnight1728 : 05-31-2012 at 10:51 AM. Reason: double post |

![]() I won't buy Diablo 3 on principle. I abhor being told I have to connect to something to play a game. I play games years and years after I buy them, and I am not too sure they will still have the servers running if I decide to play. I refuse to take the chance in any case. I am looking forward to Torchlight II instead.
I don't appreciate being classed as a pirate before I even pay for a game. I have no intention of stealing anything, so why do I get the feeling games like this assume I will be a criminal. I don't like the idea of the auction house either. I played the demo and it definitely had that "Diablo feel" but it seemed watered down or something. The first Diablo, imo was the best. It had me jumping and tense through the whole game. Diablo II had some moments but it wasn't as tense or as exciting for me. If anything Shadow, I think Blizzard could take a few pointers from you guys about good game play. They don't seem too interested in anything fresh or different, and in this world of a billion games, I think it's almost a prerequisite, that a game have something unique to offer. Just my 2 pennies. ![]() |
