Cloaked mines are evil!!!
Later in the game once cloaked mines start appearing, they get to be too frustrating. As it is, some of the mines begin tracking you, and given that some of the enemies can mess you up pretty badly and quickly, they can nuke your ship with ease. On top of that, if you have a quick ship, by the time you spot them they're already blowing your face off. Will there be some way to detonate the mines without having to fly close to them (and hurting yourself)?

A minesweeper item would be a good idea. It would probably have to be automatic (like disarm traps in Din's Curse) to be workable.

Hi guys, Demo noob here
Had issues with the mines in the demo as well (obviously the lowbie ones) as I first thought they where shinnies to loot...big mistake... The trouble is that there are so many different looking ones, which is cool, though is would be good to be able to tell if its a mine or not as there is now tooltip or anything. Forgive me if this has been fixed in the BETA. A minesweeper would be a great idea as mentioned, something like the anti missile system maybe...? Or even an item that give you the ability to convert them for a few seconds or so, so they detonate/attack when you enemy flies near it...Hack the mine, as it where. Anyways, great game and I and my friends are looking forward to release! Regards, nomnomnom. |

I don't think mines are very fun. It's strange that you are the only ship that can trip them. I know that typically monsters don't set off traps in this genre, but it seems weird in this game that systems and planets have minefields that only trigger on you. There should be some IFF.
Alternatively, how about making them targetable by weapons, but invisible unless you have a sufficient radar stat. Also, is there any item that increases turn speed? |

Anything that boosts your speed will also boost your turn speed.

Regarding turn speed - your turn radius seems fairly constant until you get enough thrust to go speed 200. After that point, thrust improves your turning dramatically (because speed has topped out).
