I'm taking it .rtx is the uncompressed format?
Yes rtx is the uncompressed format. Sounds like the driver is telling the game that it doesn't support compressed textures for some reason.

That seems to have solved it. I never used any mods so who knows what was wrong, but I did a clean install and it seems to be working fine.

Do you suggest disabling compressed textures to see how the game will behave?

If you specifically turned it off, I think it would work just like it is right now for you. I would just leave the auto build textures thing off.

Just for the heck of it, I moved the Assets folder created by autoBuildTextures away from the \ProgramData\DinsCurse folder, to see what would happen...
I ended up with the Main Menu full of placeholder textures (the white one with the red 'x' across it). Moving the Assets folder back to its original position solved that problem,
so I guess it's now official : The game doesn't want to use compressed textures anymore, at least while it's running on my system.

Disabling/re-enabling the use of compressed textures in-game had no impact whatsoever, just as Shadow predicted.
