It was just a tiny mention, but Tarn Adams (of Dwarf Fortress fame) mentioned Drox Operative in a talk at the 2018 Roguelike Celebration. That makes me happy for some reason. Drox mention at 8:19 - https://youtu.be/4-7TtPX5uhg

The load area screen load speed was bugging me, so I did a little optimization. It sped up by like 50 times. I wish all optimizations were that successful!

I turned on NPC activities in Din's Legacy today. The first thing that happened was that someone got into an argument with the bulletin board.

The next Din's Legacy patch is going to focus on rewarding the player better. Lots of cool changes coming!

Doing some experiments in Din's Legacy today to see if randomly getting any skill on an item is feasible and cool.

Wow, if that can be done, that would be amazing!

I mean, my mind goes wild with all the possibilities for such a system. (My disclaimer as usual for the following is that I don't ever expect any of it to be implemented, and it goes wayyy beyond the scope of what you said in your post).

You could remove ego from the game and replace it with an item tier above legendary like 'Divine' (name could be changed entirely of course) that has one random skill assigned to it. As you level up, the item levels up and you can use those points to boost an implicit modification on it or its base stats. This would be done by right-clicking the item to access its skill tree to add stats, pick passives for its skill, etc. (for example, the item gets 1 point per 5 levels and you could allocate it to something like 'faster casting, longer status effect duration, etc.')

My only complaint with this is naturally that it would boost player power level even higher than it is, which would be pretty ridiculous. But, it would make the permanent mode far more appealing, since you could supplement missing mutations without feeling like you need to reroll characters repeatedly until you get an ideal character.

With that craziness aside, random skills on items would be cool. I think it would be an amazing way to make uniques, artifacts and legendaries more desireable if random skills could only appear on them. Or, if they have a chance to appear on ego items when ego items level up.

It looks like the number of possible magic modifiers on items is going from 152 to 1,071 in the next Din's Legacy build!
