my biggest problem with marketing tasks is that it feels like I've gotten nothing accomplished

I think it's important to figure out which marketing avenues are worthwhile pursuing. DC had many reviews from a bunch of small sites that don't get much traffic. It's more important (I think) to go after the big fish, especially given the fact that you don't have serious marketing resources: - If you can, make a demo video, preferably with your narration to point out the cool stuff in Drox. This is really really effective in getting people excited -- much more so than seeing race ships and static screenshots. - A rockpapershotgun preview - Steam -- try to find out if they'll actually sell your new game. - Apple Store -- get a sale going on there so you can get some reviews of your games posted. - Presence in Quartertothree and maybe 1-2 other forums, which you're already doing. |

From an intellectual standpoint I know it's not wasted time, but it still ultimately feels like I didn't get anything done because it's not a programming or design task.

Yeah that makes sense. There's no way to quantify what you accomplished.

My suggestion is to have a clear marketing objectives:
- more unique visitors on soldak website or just on drox subpage, - more sells this require time, of course, plan and take time for this and I quote everything is already said plus: make regular blog posts and video, you are best marketing resources because you know Drox Use your community! Use retweets, alpha, beta, facebook and so on, get early access, get preview done before game exit

I finally just finished an interview I've had for 3 weeks, only 3 more interviews to go and I'll be caught up.

Often I think if we create a major hit I might burn some bridges. Other times I think if I burn some bridges it might lead to a major hit.

did a pass on a third of the "monsters" in Drox Operative today to make their behavior match their descriptions a bit better
