Ability to change class/race

Hi all,

searching far and wide there seems to be no way or at least no one has shown it, a way to change your race. I have a few ships up at high levels, one at 77 another at 100. The play style I am going for requires I use ballistic weapons. However I am a race that has a missile bay as its spare slot. And well I really don't want to level another ship all the way up again. I want to go further into the 100+ range levels.

Anyway is it possible either with a hex editor to change your race? Or is there a mod for it or alternatively is there way to make a new race level 100, so I can just put my gear across and delete my current race/ship?

If not, well that is stupid, but I understand.

I'm sure this could be done with a hex editor, but there aren't any in-game ways or mods that can do it.
