I like your brand of homework.
 If you're looking into roguelikes, Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup is also a goodie, the tiles version. not as much graphics as ToMe but very complex and fun to try the different combinations of character configurations. I'm intrigued that you tried darkest dungeon. One of the greatest party-based dungeon crawlers I've tried in recent memory. The way each dungeon crawl weaves a narrative really draws a player in.

No game playing today, but I did research Rampage Knights, Binding of Isaac, Rogue Legacy, Spelunky, and Dungeons of Dredmor so far.
