Default Can't get program to work

When I first bought the program it worked fine. After a contaminated file it stopped. I deleted the program and reloaded and still locks up when I try to start a new character. One curious factor is that at "resume a saved character" it lists a character name even though I had deleted the entire program, probably the name of the character from the contaminated file. Trying to play that character also causes a lockup. After a long delay, I get the same message "program stopped working". Anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed and why the old character name still appears?

Deleting the program doesn't delete all of the characters. You can try to delete all of your old character files if you want. Where the characters are stored depends on your OS. Assuming you're on Vista or Win 7, they are in C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Depths of Peril\User\chars. If your on a different OS, I can look that up also.

What sort of 'contaminated file' started this off?

My operating sys is Vista home premium. I find there is no "appdata" subdirectory after my user name.

That means it's a hidden folder. You can either type it yourself or go to Organize -> Display(or something like in english) -> Then "Show hidden files and folders" (under a folder icon and a round checkbox

My humble thanks to you and Shadow. I deleted the entire directory under depths of peril and I'm back working again. Great game! both D of P and Din's Curse.
