Default How far can you go?

You can cause races to go extinct by eliminating them enough times. How many races can you make go extinct? Is it possible to reduce the starting pool of races down to 3? 2? 1? 0?

Is there some mechanism that will force races to reemerge before you get that far?

How close to utter extinction have you gone?

I don't think I restrict how many races can go extinct.

Let's talk more about this.

Is it possible to eliminate all possible starting races? How would that work with sector generation?

Does the resurrection quest actually bring back extinct races?

Does the resurrection quest cause races to "emerge" in the galaxy? If so, does that work only with races you have unlocked? Can it work on sub-races at all?

I have managed to eliminate most starting races (except for the artificial ones) while not allowing anyone organic to emerge. The new sectors were only containing the remaining races.

I have no idea what would happen if I eliminated the remaining races. Maybe I'll try it.

Yes.

Yes.

No, you can resurrect a race you have never seen before, and thus unlock it. As a matter of fact, this is the only way I have found to unlock some sub-races.

Can it work on sub-races at all?

Yes.

How would you reset your game to get rid of all the eliminations and subraces and start over?

If I'm understanding your question correctly, then what you want to do is start a new galaxy. When setting up your next sector, there is a drop-down menu titled "Galaxy" under the advanced options. In that menu select "New Galaxy". This will reset just about everything except your ship, equipment, and achievements.

Thanks. One of those "obvious once someone tells me" kind of things.
