I ran into a problem with Jaggedcraze the Bleeder. I had a stage 1 infection at the time. He was beating on me and I could do magic damage, but my physical attacks did no damage whatsoever. I would guess he was a zombie dark elf, but I don't know for sure.

Also, when I'm on the screen to trade with the other clans, I click down through the inventory until I find the item I want, then I select it. Then the list resets and I have to click all the way down the list again. Can you have the cursor stay where it was, rather than resetting when I select something?

Perhaps they stack, and that's what's causing such an issue? NPCs are too stupid to get out of the poison and usually die (with their gravestone being immediately destroyed too).

Poison mushroom environment items also cause this.

When I have party members, my usual tactic is to blow up the little guys with the AoE skill and run in the opposite direction as fast as I can so the NPCs teleport to me.

I have 27 deaths, I'd wager 10-15 of them have been from a big (stacked?) poison cloud. For my party members, it's probably 75% of their deaths. (The other major source of death is named enemy human characters, [blah] the Spy, [blah] the Summoner, etc. They hit HARD.)
I don't mind a challenge so ones like spy dudes are fine, but the poison clouds i feel are really annoying and not fun in a challenging way.

Seems like you've had some issue I've had word for word. I've resorted to same tactics to try to get past them but it's frustrating. I'm attaching my saves, i not sure which files to zip up. i zipped up all ones except for files of my other character since it made zip too large.

EDIT; forgot to mention, this is the new area i started and it's first zone off my clan town, can't miss it. try taking 2 of my npc's which i think they are well geared for their level as far as auto equipping goes and fight in that zone a bit, my char has been handling everything else just fine except for the poison cloud stuff. Also just remembered i had sent a hunting party of 5 npc's also to the area, probably all dead or almost dead, completely forgot about them.

EDIT 2: my bad it's actually "wasteland" area, 2nd area from my town, looked same i didn't realize i was in the 2nd area. but you should see what i'm talking about.... look at damage i take against all mobs there, not too bad, then walk into poison cloud created from killing those things. i just tested it again and twice in a row died within 2 seconds.

This may be confirmation bias, but it seems to me that when my ego weapon upgrades from killing, it gains +1 to max damage, and when I upgrade it at the crafting station, it gains +2.

Maybe it's worth looking into? If it is really working that way, it gives a perverse incentive to run back to town instead of fighting. Of, course, it may be just coincidence.

---------------

My companions keep attacking environmental hazards: exploding barrels, poisonous mushrooms, etc... The higher level the area, the less survivable this becomes. Three poisonous mushrooms can kill a player character in two ticks even below level 25. I do not want to lose a hardcore character because one of my companions has decided to make a pretty green cloud by blowing up a mushroom.

Please make sure that companions DO NOT attack enviromental hazards unless the player does... maybe not even then?

If possible, maybe only limit it to things that can't cause damage or activate somehow? Okay to attack: fallen rocks, light sources, regular barrels... Not okay to attack: exploding and poison barrels, mushrooms, support beams, chests, wishing wells, etc.

My clan also likes to destroy my statues in town for some reason.
