Okay, that makes sense. Having block durability scale with the world level and require tools of a similar level would be a unique mechanic to set this game apart from the rest.

Here is a different idea.
Balance game pace. Depths of Peril had it done right and it was downward slope from there. I'm playing Zombasite now (seems like Soldak really is the only gamedev whose games I played all with no exception) and the constant deluge of quests, threats, taunts, requests and diplomatic messages from other clans telling me they do or don't like me is insane. It basically drowns out any clan management mechanics, building restoration etc. Building up a postapocalyptic settlement is really nice, but right now it is rushing from one crisis to another. I had to decrease quest number by 6 and increase timers 4x, lower zeds respawn to have some semblance of sanity. Same with Drox, Same with Dins. Here is another idea. Focus on storytelling, even if it will be an emergent narrative. Players new to the party will never realize history behind named set items, for example. I've played your games since game 1 it seems, so I read them books, but people who joined now will be clueless to what is going on. Story telling is important, always was in games. In your games this part is truly missing and lack of story and insane speed of new events unfolding can be overwhelming for people. It certainly is for me, even tho I am a veteran by now. Also, bonus idea: Main menu screen. In both Drox and Zombasite there is action filled with violence in there. I realized that what I was missing there was something else - for example campfire with characters sitting around and emoting. Or a single slow moving monster chasing a single Commoner around the screen. Or a bunch of people standing sad over a pile of corpses. Something else than just fighting, that would convey emotions of hopelessness and despair |

I feel like as long as your games have dynamic factions, it will be a successful game. That's why I wasn't a big fan of Din's Curse. Hope your new installment includes factions because a lot of sandbox games do not have them and it feels empty.
Also when is depths of peril 2 coming out, depths of peril best game. |

I'm really hoping that we can get into early access sometime late this year, but we'll see how that goes.

Thank you very much for your reply! That's awesome! I look forward to playing it soon! Would this be released on gog.com eventually? I like keeping all my Soldak games on gog.com, due to DRM-free and all. I am willing to purchase twice, haha.

We always try to get our games on GOG. I don't believe this game will be any different.

Man I was in love with Dins Curse. I had Din Legacy for a while but never had a chance to play it because of work commitments. I took the weekend off and saw I had Dins Legacy installed. I recently moved from Windows to Linux and I am total nab in Linux so was not sure it will work. Fired her up and man I had so much fun.
The one thing I really like is the mutation. I made a bow wielder/heavy armor/summoner/healer. I will most def buy the new game. There's only one game I was not a big van off is drox operation. There is nothing wrong with the game as my brother loves it. It's just a personal choice. Not many people enjoy games that looks a little older. But I was born in the 80's so I started on a spectrum. No offense to anyone but new games are all graphics with bad playability. |
