I'm back to work after a week off, trying to get caught back up on things. I hope everyone has been having a good holiday season!

It's much easier to work when there are no kittens lying in the middle of your desk.

There are now loose solids in our next game. If something disturbs them they will fall and bury things.

Our next game now has gases to go along with liquids and loose solids. The first up are smoke (suffocation) and poison (damage over time).

This has been a long week of mostly working on tax related stuff. I'm looking forward to next week when I can actually work on the next game again.

I could really easily name the next game Din's Curse 2 and be done with it, but I worry that it is too different from the original.

Given how beloved Din’s Curse is among your fans, it might be best to save that name for a true sequel. Fans will appreciate this game more with a new name, and they will appreciate Din’s Curse 2 more if it meets their expectations for what a true sequel should feel like.

It is interesting how good backgrounds can make a side-view game look so much better.

I finally added platforms today that can be placed by the player in our next game. Makes building or just moving vertically in general much easier.

I kind of agree. This sounds like a different genre and thus different series deserving of its own recognition, glory and fame.
