Unfortunately, no you don't control or see it directly. That would be cool, but is almost like making a completely new game.

Stations in the Drox Operative expansion are now built in stages, so you might have time to do something before the station comes online.

Have you already said somewhere what advantages a station will give to the race that builds one?

I probably have. Here's the quick rundown: Hydroponic Station, Mining Station, Trading Post, Research Station, Missile Base, Beam Battery, Fighter Base, Ballistic Battery, and Bomber Base.

The first 4 greatly increase food, minerals, money, and tech production (respectively) at the host planet. They all provide defense for the planet. Trading posts also make those planets have better/more components for sale.

Also, besides the normal races, monsters will be able to build bases as well. There will probably be a quest (and a timer) associated with destroying it before it is completed, and it will be particularly tough to destroy once operational. I'm thinking of a proton torpedo down the main exhaust vent.

You can now choose the sector shape in the Drox Operative expansion: disc, clusters, spirals, ring, cartwheel, line, etc.

It's interesting how many changes to our expansions bleed back into the main game: today some of the ancient races became allies or enemies.

9 new monsters * 5 verions each * 3 unique monsters per version = 135 names I have to come up for unique ships. Names are hard.

I started adding some quest chains to the Drox Operative expansion today, first up was starting a Race Civil War.

The races in the Drox Operative expansion can now resort (with help) to unleashing Bosses and Ancients now to deal with their enemies.
