They are mandatory quests right now where you will lose a sector if you fail them and you can't win with any outstanding.

There is a setting that controls how much the Drox Guild involve themselves in the current sector (sector creation option). You can choose minimal, light, medium, and heavy. Minimal is what is there now (the 4 possible bonuses). With light, medium, and heavy, the Drox involve themselves more and more.

They can give you various quests like destroy a specific race or do other things like deny a win condition for the current sector.

Shadow, could you explain how the mandatory quests work? I've started a sector with high Drox guild involvement. I have 2 bonus quests. How do I know if there are any mandatory quests?

They will announce when a mandatory quest starts. It will also blink a Drox symbol in the upper right area of the screen. If you click on that icon, it will take you to a Drox Guild quest screen where you can look at the Guild quests and accept them.

I always smile when I run my stress test monsters command in Drox because it randomly spawns planets and stars also.
