![]() This mod is my attempt to smooth out the processes of opening chests and identifying items. In my opinion, when your character is running through monster-infested caves or dungeons and they find a chest, they won't kneel down and take 3-6 seconds to open it; they'll throw it open or kick it open. This mod reflects that idea of maintaining the game's pace.
(I have no real justification for shortening the identify time other than that it holds up the game.) Last edited by desophos : 02-08-2012 at 01:52 AM. |

![]() Thank you for this mod.
Indeed, opening chests and identifying items was really slowing down the pace of the game. Although I like a more casual pace in my games, I couldn't (and still can't) see any reason for opening chests and identifying items to take as long as the vanilla game was taking. I've not gotten very far into the game (keep restarting with a new character type to try them all out to find the one that I really want to take up in levels) so I don't know what happens later on in the game, but for me, I think that taking any time at all to identify items is just silliness. It does nothing other than to slow down the game in areas where I don't believe it should be slowed down (out in the field when I'm out looking for loot or fighting mobs). I think if anything they should have made the game where items can only be identified inside of the town by a NPC, that would force the player to go back to town every now and then and give them a necessary break every once in a while. Anyway, this mod is the next best thing in my opinion, as it allows the game to keep up the pace while I'm out in the field. Thanks very much for it. |
